Yea, Skyrim is pretty damn good. Huge game with a decent storyline, even if a certain character in a certain part of the storyline is certainly annoying.

As for mods, not all mods are there to give you MANATEE OF DESTRUCTION +2000 SKILL LEVEL amulets/rings.

If you go look at the mods for Oblivion (which is what, 5 years old now?) modders have created entirely new combat systems with flips and dismemberment and horseback combat and shit. It's really impressive what people do with TES games.

I myself like to yews the high res texture mods, as well as a house mod (I usually find the vanilla houses lacking - and I like the house mods that come with questlines to upgrade them) some clothing and weapons and ish for a Ranger class, etc.
