Why was I fool enough to buy another steam game?

Just cache your credentials and you'll be fine. How is Fallout?

It's OK, but it gets a bit boring after a while.

I don't get why visuals are such a big part of video games now.
I probably never will. I'd take my old school King's Quest with awesome gameplay over Crysis with it's beautiful visuals and lackluster story anyday.

I miss Adventure games. Adventure games were the freaking lick.

(Reminiscing aside, the point of the post was that games should be judged on stuff like gameplay instead of wooden animations. And besides, FO3 is meant to be played first-person to limit how much of the awful animations you actually see. The NPC animations aren't really that bad, I didn't think.)

We had this argument in high school a few years back....

Basically, we found out that neither side (graphics vs. gameplay) would pe possible of convincing the others of their views, so it's pointless trying. Personally, I'm a gameplay person. Graphics are nice, but they should be made to gomplement the actual game.

At the same time, the expectations of each individual changes constantly.

I just recently revisited one of my old faves and I really don't remember the graphics being as shitty as they are....by today's standards.

Crysis was an OK game...not all that beautiful, tbh

That being said...dudes who just like graphics could just watch (gameplay) movies, imo. :)

Crysis is pretty widely regarded as one of the best looking games of all time. And while I wasn't a huge fan, I'd have to agree with that point.

I like interactive movie type games too, like Heavy Rain (or the Metal Gear series) - but I'd rather play a well thought out, fun, text adventure with a good story than "Look at how awesome everything looks!"
If I want to see realistic stuff, I'll look out my window. And if I want to see realistic shit blow up, I'll watch a Michael Bay movie.
