micro stuttering problem

Post by ozzeh »

How do you get rid of that god damn micro stuttering? I tried upgrading my gfx drivers and shit, changed some settings a few times, nothing worked.
Every game seems to lag with it.

System specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 955 3.2 GHz
4 GB DDR3 1600
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB

Supposedly it has something to do with a power saving thing on newer cards, but I have no idea lmao.

wat do?

err... it's kinda like the video card slowing down or something, idk lol, just what people call it when I mention it.

It's like fps lag w/o the fps lag... kinda freezes up, but fps remains the same..

Not really familiar with AMD procs, maybe Turkey can help determine if your CPU is shit and can't keep up with the gfx card?

I don't see any bottlenecking issues, the Phenom II is good for the 5770, as is the RAM. What about your power supply though?

I did some more research, it appears the catalyst control center keeps enabling the power saving feature which slows it down (as you already hinted at). Uninstall everything, then download just the driver and not the CCC and it should run fine :)

Fucking ATI and their CCC.

I never installed that shit, but I'm not a big fan of AMD anymore, either.

Thanks, Bob!!!

BTW...these used to be good:

OH...you didn't mention the OS....nothing for vista or 7 there so...nevermind. :)

Also...in case you didn't know...NEVER let windows update get drivers for your GFX card. :/
