I said "I'm not going to judge or hate on people for liking guns as a hobby," so I very clearly wasn't trying to "suck the fun" out of anything. I'm just saying that it's a pointless debate to say one gun has more stopping power than another. It's completely irrelevant for shooting targets. Whether a certain gun is "better" than another is 100% personal preference unless you're going into a situation where performance actually matters. Arguing with someone on a manner of preference is foolish is the point I was trying to make.
As for never having had someone break into my house, no I haven't. I have a dog that barks any time someone is on our side of the street, and I live in a nice neighborhood. My father does own a gun from when he was in the military, though, but I personally don't know where he keeps it, the make, or the model. Never really interested me.
Using a gun in real life is a lot different than shooting at targets, and a lot different than anything you see in video games or movies. I personally will very likely never carry in a gun in my life. I took several years of self defense training, and was taught that you should never carry a weapon unless you're both able and willing to take a human life with it; to do so otherwise defeats the purpose of carrying a weapon for safety as it just puts yourself in more danger. I'm uncomfortable with the prospect of taking another persons life, and if I were to be put in a position of danger, such as being robbed or mugged, I'd probably just hand over my watch and wallet. It's a Timex and I don't ever carry more than 40$ in cash, hardly worth dying over, or killing over. I have no qualms with target shooting for sport, though. I've done it a few times, it was a lot of fun.

Hi. I'm angry on the internet.
Re: New Toy
I agree with kera
and having 100 guns or a terrorist weapon is pretty much a joke to defend yourself anyway

Re: New Toy
I must say Kera phrased that nicely. However carrying a gun does have some yews behind it. As Kera said unless you are going to killl some one with it then it becomes pointless: however if the person whom is attempting to mug you is intimidated by your weapon he might be frighted enough to run away screaming.
Who knows they might be just afraid to kill you just as you might be afriad to kill them. Also you dont have to kill them i think a shot to their shooting arm or another place that could incapacitate them: ie the knee might be just enough.
Yes i too took self defence for several months, months not years, I found them instructional but what they taught you would be fine and dandy if you went hand to hand. As it urns out most of the time you won't go hand to hand. Most combat now adays is done with long range weapons. So going up to a guy with a gun with just melee will most likely end badly. Perfect example. I don't know how many of you have see Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark but if you have a similar situation arises in the movie. Harrison ford is chasing after a Marion through a middle eastern country. A swordsman walks up and shows him a bunch of complicated moves and challenges him with a wave of his hand. Indiana simply takes out his revolver and shoots him through the chest. The swordsmen may have been the best of the best but he can't get close ebough to do damage. Similar to out melee v revolver scenario.

Caesar, I don't know nothing of weapons except for theorics(?), but I believe that to incapacitate someone with a gun, you should have some serious training with it?

Re: New Toy
First of all: WTF with the banner?
Second: well, that may be true if you aim to the torso, but surely aiming to arms/legs is much more difficult, specially without training...
Anyway, this is me, talking theorics. Wether this is true or not, I do not know. This is just what I think it could be...
